Portrait and Street Photography Dual-Theme Intensive Workshop

Workshop Overview:
This workshop is led by two seasoned professionals: a veteran journalist and anexpert portrait and street photography instructor, both recognized by Sony asofficial partners. These instructors from different fields will come togetherto share their specialized techniques for street and portrait photography.
Taking great photos isn't difficult—what's crucial is mastering the coreelements: scene, lighting, and post-production.
While organizing a workshop isn't too challenging, ensuring every participantleaves with memorable photos and a solid grasp of the skills can be. In this10-hour intensive workshop, we’ve meticulously planned lessons to cover streetand portrait photography, with every topic closely interwoven. The hands-onapproach ensures students learn by shooting, with each technique fully embeddedthrough practical application.

Course Summary:
This is an in-depth workshop designed to provide a solid foundation in bothstreet and portrait photography. The day before, we will hold a 2-hour onlineclass to introduce key concepts, accompanied by a PDF guide that can serve as aquick reference during the shoot.
On the day of the workshop, we will start with a street photography session inthe morning. Most people don’t realize that the principles of lighting andcomposition in street photography are closely tied to portrait photography.This course emphasizes both understanding the principles and ensuringstudents can apply these techniques independently. We will begin by focusing onreading and combining light and environmental structures in street scenes.
In the afternoon, we will conduct a session on post-processing, covering simpleyet effective color grading and styling techniques.
The day concludes with a golden-hour portrait shoot, incorporating the use ofartificial light. Following the workshop, there will be a 1-hour online reviewsession dedicated to refining portrait editing skills, showcasing the besttechniques from both instructors.

Schedule and Curriculum Outline:

8:00 AM – 11:00 PM: Documentary Street Photography
Scene Selection:
The first requirement of street photography is choosing the right scene. Thescene should reflect the landmark characteristics of the location whilemaintaining a sense of beauty and composition, allowing space for the mainsubject. These three factors are crucial when selecting a location. Theinstructor will demonstrate scene selection and explain the thought processbehind it through live street photography examples.

Lighting to Describe the Scene:
Lighting conditions are almost always considered simultaneously with sceneselection. Whether in shadow or direct sunlight, each lighting scenario bringsits own mood and tonal quality to the image. The instructor will provideon-site analysis and demonstration, assisting students in adjustingaccordingly.

Storytelling with the Shutter:
The shutter captures the photographer’s vision and viewpoint, and sometimeseven a 0.1-second difference can have a huge impact. Whether throughanticipation, waiting, or quick reflexes, this skill will be thoroughly sharedin real-time.

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Post-Processing and Editing
An afternoon indoor session will cover a 2-hour lecture on the professionalworkflow once images are imported into editing software.

Lightroom Color Grading Concepts
Tone and Gradation:
Demonstrating how to control tonal depth for refined results, this sectionteaches how to convey the photographer’s perspective to the viewer throughappropriate tone control. Using images captured in the morning, the instructorwill demonstrate tone and gradation techniques in Lightroom.

Color and Style:
To develop a personal style, it's essential to understand the impact ofbrightness, color, and contrast on style. The instructor will showcase quickand effective techniques for achieving a distinct look using Lightroom.

Photoshop Quick-Finish Techniques:
Certain details require local adjustments, which are done using Photoshop. Theinstructor will demonstrate simple yet powerful commands and techniques tocreate a polished, detailed final image.

4:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Golden-Hour Portrait Photography
Perfect Lighting Selection:
Key techniques for selecting, controlling, and manipulating light, includingsoft, hard, and scattered lighting, will be covered.

Scene and Atmosphere Composition:
Designing and imagining the atmosphere, focusing on three major principles oflocation selection, subject prominence, and adjustment.

Artificial Lighting Techniques:
Guidance on incorporating artificial light, with techniques for seamless useand styling.

辦一場教學也不難，難的是要讓每一位同學都拍到好照片並且真正的將技巧要領印在腦中，我們將一次學好街拍與人像的教學方式規劃在一天10小時的Workshop中做完整分享，課綱每一個議題都是環環相扣，每個要領都是手把手的帶著學員拍到為止。

課程概要：

這是一場極為紮實的Workshop，課前一天會針對拍攝要領有一堂二小時的線上課，課前附上PDF講義可作為拍攝小抄。

課程當日從早上街拍，因為多數人不知道，街拍的用光、選景跟人像有莫大關係，也相當有幫助，這系列課程強調

「知其所以然」更強調「講師放手後學員也要能拍得出來」，所以早上從街拍的光線、環境結構判讀與組合開始。
午後的後期編修室內課程，解析最簡易實用的調色及風格化技巧。

光線黃金時段的人像實拍，融入人工光運用，課後另有一小時人像精修線上檢討，將兩位講師最精華技巧完整呈現。

選景—

街拍第一要件便是選景，既要標示出所在地標特性，也要兼顧美感組合，同時預留主體表現空間，這是選景必須考慮的三大要件，藉由掃街現場，講師示範場經選擇並分析選擇過程、示範結果。

描述情境的光線—

幾乎是與選景必須同步考量的光線條件，不管是在陰影下還是光線照射下的場景，都有它能發揮的氛圍與畫面調性。

現場剖析、示範，並協助同學修正。

陳述故事的快門—

快門最後凝結了拍攝者的所見與觀點，0.1秒的差距有時候極為巨大，預想、等待還是迅速反應抓取，現場完整分享。

PM2:00~4:00 影像後期編修

下午於      進行二小時室內講座型態分享影像檔案進入電腦後的專業工作流程。

Lightroom調色觀念

階調與色調—

如合控制影像以綿密而細緻的結果呈現出來，是階調的技巧，如何以適當的色調表現拍攝者的觀點傳達給月讀者，用早上的街拍成果以Lightroom直接示範給同學階調與色調調控的技巧。

顏色與風格—

想要有個人風格必先認識明度、顏色、對比對風格的影響，以Lightroom示範快速有效的風格調色技巧。

Photoshop快速完修技巧—

有些需要局部控制的細節需要藉由Photoshop進行編修，示範藉由幾個好用簡單快速的指令與技巧完成一張細緻的作品。
